Abacus Opt Out -- Information for Consumers

Epsilon receives personally-identifiable information through the Abacus "Cooperatives". Epsilon maintains a cooperative database to which members of the Abacus Business ("Bu siness to Business") or Abacus Consumer ("Business to Consumer") Cooperatives (mostly catalog, retail, and B2 B companies); contribute information about their customers in exchange for information about other customers that may be interested in their products. Members of the Abacus Cooperatives contribute names, addresses, and general purchase information (such as the amount of a transaction or general types of purchases, like "ladie s' apparel"). This information is maintained at the household level, not the individual level. Some members o f the Abacus Cooperatives contribute information they have collected at their websites. This database does no t contain email addresses. In addition to data contributed by Members, Epsilon also maintains and processes information provided by thir d parties. Third-party provided information is originally obtained from both government and non-governmental sources, which are available to the public. We receive this information from business partners who compile th is information and provide it to companies such as Epsilon as a means of enhancing the information we maintai n on both consumers and businesses. Demographic, geographic, business and lifestyle information are examples of this type of information. Epsilon encourages all members of the Abacus Cooperatives to provide notice when personal information is coll ected that it will be shared with the other members of the Abacus Cooperatives, and to provide consumers with choice about that use of information. When you opt-out, your record will be suppressed from the Abacus Cooperative databases, ensuring your househo ld record is not selected from the Abacus Cooperatives by other Abacus Cooperative members. Please note that because not all direct catalog marketers are members of the Abacus Cooperatives, opting out of the Abacus Cooperatives does not mean that you will never receive any catalogs again. It does mean that ot her Abacus Cooperative members will not receive your name from Epsilon for marketing purposes.
